Participants can choose from a 10km or 20km road walk, or enjoy our unique Ramble experience. To qualify for an IML stamp, you have to complete 20km, the Ramble, or mix and match both over the four days.

Gear Up for the Road
To ensure you have a safe and enjoyable journey through the countryside, here is your essential packing list:

Fitness: A good physical base to comfortably cover your chosen distance.

Footwear: Broken-in walking shoes, runners, or hiking boots.

Fuel: A packed lunch and plenty of high-energy snacks.

Hydration: Water or your preferred sports drink (staying hydrated is key!).

Protection: Suncream for the bright spells and waterproof clothing/a hat for the "authentic" Irish weather.

Safety: A fully charged mobile phone. Hi-Vis jacket (available at HQ)

Support: Walking poles (optional, but great for the rolling hills).

Storage: A comfortable backpack to carry your supplies.

The Castlebar International 4 Days Walks begins as it always does: with the proud colours of our International Flag Parade on the Wednesday evening. We’ll set off from HQ at 6.30 pm, marching through the town before officially declaring the festival open.

By Sunday, the hard work is done, but the celebrations are only beginning. We mark the finish with a closing ceremony and medal presentation. Later that evening, the boots come off, and the dancing begins at our legendary Annual Blister Ball. A night of music and stories that you won't want to miss.
